About
First Tee – Central Coast offers golf experiences for young people through programs at thirteen central coast golf courses. The program includes the First Tee School Program and the First Tee Community Program, which both use golf as a central activity.
Central Coast Junior Golf, Inc. organized as a not-for-profit organization in September of 1999 and began doing business as First Tee – Central Coast in October 2002. First Tee – Central Coast is one of 150 First Tee chapters across the U.S. and select international locations. The organization was created to become a First Tee Chapter and bring the Life Skills Experience to communities in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and northern Ventura counties. First Tee – Central Coast is currently serving over 2,000 young people each year at thirteen central coast golf courses. The First Tee School Program is active in elementary and middle schools in Carpinteria, Santa Barbara, Hope, Goleta, Santa Ynez, Orcutt, Guadalupe, Santa Maria, and Lucia Mar school districts, reaching just under 30,000 students annually. The First Tee Community Program offers a curriculum specifically designed for after-school and youth-serving spaces such as YMCAs, Girls Inc, and Boys and Girls Clubs to bring the program to kids who might not otherwise have exposure to golf and life lessons that are learned through the game. First Tee is a youth development organization that enables kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges, and it integrates the game of golf with a life skills curriculum to create active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience.
